  1. HORACE GOES SKIING

  3. Before Horace can get to the ski-slopes  he must fetch his skis from a
  4. hut on the other side of  the  busy  road.  Horace will move in one of
  5. four directions according to the keys you press.

  7. UP    = Q
  8. DOWN  = Z
  9. LEFT  = I
  10. RIGHT = P
  11.  
  12. At the beginning of the game Horace has $40 to spend. If he is knocked
  13. down it  will  cost  him  $10  in  ambulance  fees.  After  Horace has
  14. successfully crossed the road,  guide  him  into  the  door of the hut
  15. where he will fetch his skis. The  charge  for ski hire is $10. Horace
  16. should not enter the ski hut unless  he can afford the hire charge. If
  17. Horace has spent all his money  he  can accumulate points and money by
  18. crossing the road repeatedly.  At  every  1000 points boundary, Horace
  19. receives a $10 bonus. Horace should not linger on the road longer than
  20. necessary since  the  traffic  becomes  progressively  more congested.
  21. After fetching his skis Horace must return  across the road to the ski
  22. slopes.

  24. In the second part of the game  Horace  must ski down the Hannekon run
  25. avoiding the trees and  slaloming  between  the  red  and blue pair of
  26. flags. If horace fails to  pass  between  the  flags a warning note is
  27. sounded and Horace will lose points. Horace can parallel left or right
  28. with the I and  P  keys  as  above  respectively. Horace increases his
  29. points by passing between the  flags  and  he  can  also receive a 100
  30. points bonus by passing through the  finish barrier. As in the highway
  31. section, there is a $10 bonus at  every 1000 point boundary. If Horace
  32. should hit a tree then he can continue on the slope providing his skis
  33. do not break. If his skis  do  break  then Horace must again cross the
  34. road for a new set of keys and  then return across the road to the ski
  35. slopes. If Horace successfully  completes  the course without breaking
  36. his skis then he must cross the road to the next ski slope.

  38. You can pause any  game  by  pressing  S  and subsequently continue by
  39. pressing any key on the bottom  row.  A  game  can be aborted an a new
  40. game started by pressing G and H together.
